Sluggish e-mail

I have WINDOWS 98 and COMCAST broadband for my internet. I am
experiencing sluggishness in working with my e-mail and having a lot of
pop-up ads. COMCAST people after checking told me that there is no
problem in their side and advised me to make sure that I have Microsoft
Anti Spyware installed. I can not find one that will be supported by
WINDOWS 98.
Any suggestions or help will be highly appreciated.
