My Documents redirection

Hi,

I recently redirected the "My Documents" icon on my desktop to my
network drive (on a win2k server). When I later went to work on a
document in "My Documents" now pointing to the server, I found nothing
there.

This occurred on a user's pc as well after redirecting his "My
Documents" folder but at the time I dismissed it as a user error and
simply restored the files.

Is this a known issue or have I got a bigger problem? A quick google
search turned up nothing.

Cheers.

Did you do the Folder Redirection via Group Policy or by using the
properties of My Documents?

[snip]

I did it using the properties of My Documents. One other thing that I
recall, but I dont think it made a difference, is that when checking
the user's Active Directory account, I found that his home drive path
was incorrect. Someone had mis-spelled his name. I fixed that and it
was later that I found his files missing. I am not sure but I think I
did this before making changes to the My Documents properties.

In the case of my computer, I didnt touch my AD account. I did
activate user profiles, but this would only make changes to the local
\windows directory.

That is how it works, acc. to the lit at "R-Clk My Documents,
Properties".

Thanks or Good Luck,
There may be humor in this post, and,
Naturally, you will not sue,
should things get worse after this,
