My neighbor has a Dell Dimension running Windows98 SE. When pressing
the 'Connect' Button of 'Netclient.exe' the Dialer makes contact with
his ISP. 'Netsclient.exe' then disappears, the Monitor Screen goes
black for a Second or two, and then a blue Screen follows with ...
A fatal exceptiong 0E has occurred at 0028:C0240CEE in VxD PERF(05) +
000001B6.
Pressing a Key returns him to Windows98. He can then launch Internet
Explorer, IE, and go about surfing.
The connection to the Internet is made just before Netclient.exe, or
whatever is actually responsible, causes the fatal Error.
This Scenario is reproducable, always with the same Error, and same
abiltiy to access the Internet once IE is launched.
-----
Launching IE first - will cause it to launch NetClient.exe, which again
makes an Internet connection, and is promply followed by the above
detailed Error. Again, after dismissing the fatal Error Message, he can
go about using the Internet.
-----
I am googling [www.google.com] for a possible Solution, and learning a
few things along the way. However, if anyone in this Group has any Info
as to why and how to resolve the Problem - we would be grateful of your
Input.
Sincerely yours,
Samuel and Bar Har.
