HELP!!!!!
I recently had a curious simultaneous crash of all microsoft products on my
computer. I have NAV installed and religiously update it, but that's not
the problem.
I'm running a Dell with Win98. I reinstalled Win98 and during the
installation process it couldn't find a couple of files including
"3CPCICVWCAT;PRECOPY1.CAB" I have no idea why there is a second file name
seprated by a semicolon, but it just couldn't locate them on my Win98
CD-ROM.
Anyway things looked good and my Device Manager looks great. Among my other
components I have a USB Intel 82801AA USB Uniersal Host Controler and a USB
Root Hub. However, when I try to install my HP printer, it doesn't seem to
recognize the USB connection. None of my other USB peripherals work either.
I've reinstalled Windows several times, tried unistalling and reinstalling
the printer software etc... and nothing works.
As is usually the case the only thing I got from Dell Tech support was the
knowledge that yesterday was a Hindi festival in India and the advice that I
need to purchase a new version of Win98. I REALLY don't think my Win98 disk
is bad.
Any help is appreciated. Also, if you can suggest a more appropriate
newsgroup for the question, that willl also be welcome.
Thanks in advance.
